Together with designer and manufacturer Petra Schachtner of wickelkinder GmbH, we helped launch the Manduca in 2007 and have supported it ever since. We are your Manduca experts—after all, this baby carrier is practically our baby, too. As certified babywearing consultants at loeweli and trained partners of the Trageschule Dresden, we are happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding the Manduca. Regrettably, wickelkinder GmbH was forced to file for insolvency in September 2025. We are deeply saddened by this news, but we intend to honor their rich legacy in every way. The numerous awards received over the past years speak volumes. Above all, we want to thank you—the parents—who made all of this possible in the first place. The new brand owner has chosen to pursue their path without us and has prohibited us from continuing to use the brand's trademarks and imagery. While this is within their rights, it is difficult for us to comprehend. Consequently, we have commissioned a brand-new photoshoot for all our products. We hope you enjoy the new images! :-) For us, of course, the Manduca era is far from over—even after so many years. In our shop, you can still purchase the original product range—sourced directly from wickelkinder—which continues to boast outstanding quality; you also benefit from our extensive inventory. The quality of these baby carriers and wraps is so exceptional that even pre-owned carriers can easily be passed on to others for continued use. While this represents a significant advantage for you—and arguably a disadvantage for the manufacturer, perhaps even contributing to their insolvency—the developer, Petra Schachtner, did everything right; after all, compromising on quality in the baby market is simply a non-starter. She can take great pride in the countless babies who have been—and continue to be—carried into the world in her wickelkinder Manduca: ergonomically, comfortably, and happily. To ensure that this remains the case for a long time to come—and because, eventually, our own stock of these original Manduca carriers will also run out—we are now making a large number of our *wickelkinder* carriers available for rent. This allows many more parents to benefit; moreover, it is significantly more affordable—and, above all, more sustainable—than purchasing a brand-new carrier.

The Variety of Manduca Models
The lightweight Manduca First, the basic model, and the all-in-one Manduca XT baby carrier with its integrated accessories are the two compact carriers from Manduca. The HalfBuckle Manduca Twist is a hybrid of a woven wrap and a buckle carrier. The stretchy woven wrap is not only elastic lengthwise but also crosswise, making it ideal even for premature babies. And last but not least, there's the matching doll carrier for siblings, the Manduca Doll Carrier. A wide range of accessories completes the extensive Manduca product line.
