Together with Petra Schachtner, designer and founder of wickelkinder GmbH, we had the privilege of supporting the Manduca from its very launch in 2007. Since then, it and all the models that have followed have become a permanent part of our product range—and, in many ways, feel like one of our own.
It was very sad to see wickelkinder GmbH file for insolvency in September 2025. We will continue to preserve and honor the legacy of this exceptional company with great appreciation. The many awards the company has received over the years speak for themselves.
As a fitting finale, the Manduca received yet another outstanding recognition: the Manduca XT in the color DenimBlue Toffee, still manufactured by wickelkinder, was named a Best in Test winner by Stiftung Warentest (Issue 7/2026), alongside one other baby carrier. Nine full-buckle baby carriers were tested (View the test). The Manduca XT had already received the same distinction shortly after its launch in the Stiftung Warentest 01/2020 test. As all Manduca XT carriers manufactured by wickelkinder GmbH are identical in design and construction, and since we exclusively sell Manduca products made by wickelkinder GmbH, this test result applies to every Manduca XT baby carrier available from us.
We have chosen not to use the official Stiftung Warentest "Best in Test" seal, as the licensing fees are unfortunately too high for our family-run business. However, we can guarantee that every Manduca product we offer was manufactured by wickelkinder GmbH. Thanks to our close partnership with the company, we were able to build up a substantial inventory before production ended. We hope this will allow many more families to enjoy these exceptional baby carriers for years to come.
Following the insolvency of wickelkinder GmbH, the Manduca brand was sold and continues under the same name with a new owner.

Unfortunately, it has been somewhat overshadowed by the introduction of the XT, but it remains an exceptionally solid and reliable carrier that requires very little additional equipment.
